About Me

What's your life metaphor? For me, it's sailing.

If you have ever been on a boat, you know that plans go completely out the window and you have to be prepared with options, and options for options. You don't have control over the conditions or when they are going to pop up and present a challenge. You can only control how you handle them. I love a challenge. I excel at cold reading of problems.

As a New England transplant to Los Angeles, I've brought a little Robert Frost with me, as being told, "this is how we do it" or "this is how we've always done it," is a challenge that gets me out of bed in the morning. I have a unique talent for watching and listening to identify nuances that others miss or cast off as unimportant. The nuances matter.

I live to learn and becoming an expert in whatever I am immersed in is how I help others solve complex problems in high stakes situations, within short time frames.

I've dedicated my life to teaching, whether it be in the courtroom as a lawyer or the classroom, whether physical or online, as a teacher or trainer, I can teach anyone anything, even the most complex ideas.

I am an eclectic encyclopedia of knowledge and experiences. That means I can relate to you and I develop rapport and trust easily.

At the core of my beliefs is that integrity is essential for good relationships. In business and education, we have to negotiate numerous relationships, whether it be simple interactions, leadership transformation, or sustained change and change management. Having and maintaining integrity is hard, and I do the right thing because, as Richard Branson said, "[a]ll you have in business is your reputation, so it's really important that you keep your word." So, every day I endeavor to always do the right thing, even in the face of opposition, which makes for difficult, but correct, choices.

My enthusiasm is infectious. When I am working on something I believe in, in an environment that is respectful, empowering and is influenced by good leadership, there isn't anything we can't accomplish.
