Sue Johnson

About Me

My name is Sue Anne Johnson. I have been a patternmaker for women's clothing professionally for over 35 years. My skills and areas of expertise include design, extensive knowledge of fabrics, fit, and individual custom clothing. I have had my own business located in the heart of the garment district in NYC for 13 years. I work with designers to put their ideas into actual garments by creating a drape or muslin prototype and then drafting a pattern to cut fabric and sew the garment. I received my bachelor of science in textiles and clothing - design option from Iowa State University. I also attended the University of Iowa, starting out in the Pharmacy program. My hobbies and interests include gardening and anything that takes me out into nature - like kayaking and cross-country skiing. I love craft fairs and quality hand-made Items as well as native crafts from around the world. I support PBS, Planned Parenthood and American Farmland Trust. I practice meditation daily with the Sahaj Marg system.
