About Me

Licensed Master Social Worker focused on building motivating and recovery-based environments. Melissa believes in creating a space that heals for those people and families coping with life's challenges and for the staff, volunteers and clinicians providing care.

Melissa has expertise in providing administrative oversight in the human service field. She is the AVP for the FEGS Suffolk Wellness Partners Health Home, a service delivery system that has been established to improve healthcare for those people who have historically been under served due to such issues as; poverty, homelessness, psychiatric disabilities, substance abuse and complicated chronic illnesses. This system currently serves over 3,000 Suffolk residents, encompasses 9 care management agencies, 5 Assertive Community Treatment Teams (ACT) and employs over 130 care coordinators.

Melissa specializes in education and training in the areas of advocacy, social policy and service delivery utilizing best practices including the recovery and wellness model. Melissa has a strong interest in academic work, research and program development. Presently, Melissa is an adjunct faculty member at Molloy College and Fordham University. She is a field instructor for students in the health care industry for clinical and macro level students and creates innovative field experiences emphasizing core competencies.

Melissa is the Co-Founder of Motivational Recovery Environments (MoRE) a program that serves children and families coping with life-threatening illness. MoRE's signature Camp Adventure week is a sleep-away experience on Long Island for children with cancer and their siblings. She has nearly two decades of broad experience in special needs camping programs, targeting children. She has direct experience with program development and managing volunteers in a camp setting.

Melissa is an avid volunteer and has experience with many local and community boards, including Kiwanis, NYAPRS, COCA-I and NAMI.
