About Me

Passionate about the art and science of personal transformation, I am the founder and CEO of Mother’s Backyard. I developed two organizations and a MOVE Mapping™ approach to address the limited amount of ongoing support, resources, and structures in place for people struggling with traumatic loss and grief.

Under my pen name, Debra Hester, I am the author of an award-winning book, My Backyard Garden, A Memoir of How Love Conquers Grief. The memoir is the foundation for bringing awareness to understanding and moving beyond a traumatic event to #empathyforgrief and loss for self and others.

#empathyforgrief - Break the Silent Struggle With Grief is a FREE podcast that I produce and host to complement the book and provide ongoing insights into a journey we all will take called grief and loss. Learn more at

My corporate career includes being a SHRM Senior Certified Human Resources professional and certified leadership and talent development coach and mentor with a solid history of results in large, fast-paced, B2B, and B2C organizations that are experiencing growth and digital transformation. I am a creative and motivated connector who loves contributing to innovative customer- and team-focused organizations.
