About Me

I have been involved with medical reimbursement for more than 40 years. From my work as the Nutrition Services Payment Coordinator at The Ohio State University (where I helped computerize the business processes for the Nutrition Services department), to my work in one of the first hospitals to convert to the Diagnosis Related Groups Medicare payment system, to my work in medical sales( where I taught durable medical equipment suppliers how to offer high-technology equipment and supplies to various outpatient settings), to my work as director of payment strategies & business design (where I helped hospitals open new wound care departments and helped manufacturers obtain codes for their products and servies), to my work as the director of reimbursement for two major wound care manufacturers (where I obtained HCPCS and CPT codes for numerous products), and now to my own consulting company (where I use all my knowledge to help providers and manufacturers navigate the convoluted third-party payment systems in the U.S.), I have become well-known and respected for my expertise as a medical reimbursement expert with a wound care specialty.

I willingly share my reimbursement expertise by publishing articles (nearly 200) in professional journals. In fact, I just celebrated my 11th anniversary of authoring the Payment Strategies column in ADVANCES in SKIN & WOUND CARE. To assist the hospital-based outpatient wound care departements, I was one of the 5 founding editorial board members of the new journal TODAY'S WOUND CLINIC. My reimbursement column, originally called Business Briefs, and now called In Business, has become one of the major highlights of this growing publication. To support the readers of this journal, a professional coder and I offer an annual Wound Clinic Business seminar in six cities throughout the U.S. In addition, I have been honored to speak at every major wound care symposium in the country as well as many regional and local wound care symposiums. In fact, I was invited to deliver the key note address at the same wound symposium for two consecutive years. I also volunteer my time to assist several national wound care organizations navigate the complex legislation and regulations that impact the wound care providers of the country.

My husband and I believe in "giving back" to the community. I have sponsored numerous internships for medical dietetic students and for MBA students. My husband and I have spent a considerable amount of our lives working with student athletes. I was the ultimate soccer mom (sometimes for 3 teams at a time) and soccer coach's support for 15 years.

Because of my family's experience with heart disease and diabetes, I do my best to support the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association.

In my free time I enjoy cooking for my family and all the friends they want to invite. I also enjoy cruising to new parts of the world every year. Someday I hope to take an around the world cruise.
