About Me

After graduating from Daycroft School I attended Swarthmore College for two years. After marriage and three wonderful children, now divorced, I went back to school at the University of Vermont where I obtained a bachelor and a master’s degree. I taught sixth grade in Hinesburg, Vermont for four years and then enrolled in a Ph.D. program in special education at the University of Connecticut. I became a special education director in Avon, CT and finally finished my dissertation and defended it in 1989.

Passionate about sailing my boat, Yankee Lady, I secured a job in Maine so I could easily sail Maine waters. I worked as a special education director first in SAD 74, North Anson, and then in Union 96, Sullivan Maine for the next four years.

I married my husband, Jim, also a sailor in 1996, retired, and together we have circumnavigated New England with a side trip to Newfoundland aboard Yankee Lady. We have sailed Jim’s boat, Albatross from Florida to the Bahamas.

We now divide our time between East Haddam, CT and South Berwick, ME. I finished my book “The Voyage of Yankee Lady Circumnavigation New England on a Sailboat” and we are actively engaged in marketing it.

I am currently working on the book “Voyage to the Bahamas, Everyday is an Adventure” which should be published in December, 2013.
