About Me

Hello, and thank you for visiting my site. My name is Jessica Schwarz, and my passion is Emergency Preparedness and disaster response. I am an Emergency Manager for a County in Southern Oregon, previous work and expertise in Incident Management and Emergency Operations. I love engaging with citizens, local community groups, first responders and local government alike. I have a love for homesteading and gardening, which ties nicely into the experience I'm building as a Emergency Preparedness presenter.
I'm an excellent collaborator, I write emergency operations plans as well as Continuity of Operations plans.
I started in public service as a volunteer firefighter while in high school. I earned my Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) while completing my Communications degree. I later worked for the BLM as a wildland fire fighter, and I knew response was in my blood. I now serve in a role that does much more planning, coordinating and policy level response. I really enjoy being a consequence manager and working through often challenging situations.

My hobbies and interests include river rafting (previous river guide in Southern Oregon), gardening and homesteading, backpacking and hiking, cooking and playing tour guide to Oregon.
