About Me

My name is Donna MJ. Kinsey. I have been an editor of craft books for Suzanne McNeill for the past 10 years. I am a mathematician, teacher, writer, musician, and artist. I am the sole proprietor of Kinsey Quilts, a small business located in Weatherford, TX. I specialize in professional custom quilt design, sewing quilt tops, hand-guided longarm quilting, binding services and machine embroidered labels. I also offer quilting and sewing instruction and Medieval/Renaissance/Steampunk costuming services. I have two book publications- "Strip Happy-Quilting on a Roll" and "Strippin' Along-Applique on a Roll" and have published one pattern- "Floating Cross."
I am an active member of the Modern Quilt Guild, Bear Creek Quilt Guild, Parker Co. Quilt Guild, the American Sewing Guild, the Richland Sewing Quilt Club and Strip Club, and the Bear Creek Longarm Group. I am passionate about sewing and quilting for charities and participate with members of my guilds and groups which support local hospitals, women's shelters, Habitat for Humanity, and the Linus Quilt Project. I individually make Quilts of Valor for America's Wounded Warriors.
I received my master's degree in Mathematics and Education from Saginaw Valley State University and have a B.A. in European Renaissance History and Education. I taught public school in Texas for 10 years, two years at Tarrant Co Junior College and served as Professor of Mathematics at DeVry University for 10 years.
