About Me

I have an extensive background in urban, suburban, and rural school districts. As I worked my way through the challenges of education, I began to see what was working for me. I realized that by focusing on supporting or changing current teacher practice, motivating students to own their learning, and involving the parents, my students were achieving gains many thought were not possible based on our school demographics. I believe that by supporting incremental sustainable school growth, student performance can increase. I have a long history of being an effective educator and leader in classrooms, schools, district offices, and the corporate setting. In my previous work at Pearson as a National ELL Professional Development Specialist I consulted and collaborated with peers and school leaders throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands to design district professional development implementation plans intended on driving student academic growth.

Prior to my retirement and joining Pearson, my last two positions were as a Principal and ESL/Bilingual Coordinator. As an advocate for all students, my peers and professional colleagues have recognized me as an agent of change who has impacted overall student performance. In my last public school leadership position, J.W. and Ruth Christie Elementary in Frisco ISD was named to the Texas Business and Education Coalition Honor Roll in 2008. This is the most prestigious award for sustained academic excellence in Texas.
