About Me

My name is Barbara K. Jacobson, RN, M.S.N. My professional title is Chief Nurse Executive at Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation. I provide strategic leadership and oversight of all the professional practice of nursing and the provision of nursing care in all areas of the corporation. My areas of expertise include writing policies and procedures, leading the team to open new long-term care and ensuring all CMS regulations followed. I was appointed to be a member of the Alaska Board of Nursing Background Check Workforce, and am a member of the team driving corporate goals and a facilitator of the Patient Centered Excellence Team. Successfully lead team to decrease hospital admissions – going from highest readmission rate in the state of Alaska to the lowest within two years. Will have 0% penalty for 2015. I create and monitor budgets for the nursing division and liaise with the University of Alaska School of Nursing for continuation of distance RN program for rural areas. I am also a member of the team to create the CNA training program in Bethel. I write articles for Alaska Nursing magazine and the corporate newsletter.
