Parsons is seeking a Senior Project Manager for our rapidly expanding Bridge Group. This position reports to our Regional Bridge Practice Lead.  Based in New York City, this position will include managing medium sized and complex bridge focused projects plus be a key contributor to business development and talent management in our New York / New Jersey Region.  The successful candidate will be an effective "seller/doer" that balances project management and business development responsibilities.  Willingness to travel to client or project site locations is expected.

 

 

Our New York City center of excellence has or is delivering numerous marquee bridge projects including the new Carquinez and Tacoma Narrows Suspension Bridges, Autoroute 25 Cable-Stayed Bridge in Montreal, new Fore River Lift Bridge in Boston, the new Goethals Bridge (parallel cable stayed bridges) and the rehabilitation/replacement of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in Brooklyn, including the historic promenade.  In addition, we have delivered rehabilitation and/or upgrade projects on numerous NYC landmark bridges such as the Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Verrazano Narrows and George Washington Bridges.  This position supports the Regional and Sector Manager to continue the legacy of technical and management excellence while growing a successful and sustainable business practice that creates a challenging and fun workplace.

 

 

 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain cooperative and productive relationships with all employees, clients and other stakeholders.

     

  • Ensure consistency in project quality, budgetary constraints and expectations and that appropriate project monitoring and control mechanisms are developed and administered.

     

  • Enhance the organization's profile and reach within the district.

     

  • Acts as the Company representative with the client and selected subcontractors during the program execution.  
  • Plans, directs, supervises, and controls the execution of all business, technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project.   
  • Works with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.  Ensures that the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans. 
 
 
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 
4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering 
 
15+ years of related work experience is required.  Incumbent should have a broad general technical and business background, as well as previous project management experience on similar or related projects. 
 
Project and staff management experience on NYSDOT and NYCDOT bridge projects is REQUIRED.
 
Technical experience in the area of bridge design is preferred.
 
Design Build experience preferred
 
PE License is required
 
Must have strong relationships with key clients in NY City Metro Area
 

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
: 
Incumbent must meet Parsons' project management certification requirements.  Proven ability to perform in a management capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required.  In addition, must be knowledgeable of current technology and how it can be effectively utilized on the project.
